DESCRIPTION: This event is one of the most exciting evenings of the Festival. The Opening Night Gala will kick-offour 12th Annual Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival and set the mood for the 8-day event. Traditionally, some of the best décor and food can be enjoyed on Opening Night. Celebrities and VIPs will walk down the red carpet as well as all the participating Filmmakers and prominent figures of the Entertainment world to enjoy the opening film and then a magnificently catered celebration accompanied by a live orchestra.

Closing Gala – Awards Night– The Egyptian Theater

DESCRIPTION: This event will be held on Friday September 19, 2008 at 5:00 PM, closing 8 days of fascinating screenings, panels, workshops, labs, and receptions. At this moving event, we will announce and present the festival awards.

General Screenings - Saturday - Thursday
The Egyptian Theater; Loyld Rigler Screen & Spielberg Theater. 
The Chinese 6 Mann Theaters- two screens at Hollywood & Highland
(4 screens in total)  All screens located on Hollywood Blvd.

The festival will screen around 105 features, documentaries, and short films representing many different countries from Latin America to Spain.  The films will be in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.  All foreign language films are subtitled in English. Screenings begin as early as 10:30 a.m. on weekends and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. Most of them are followed by a Q & A session with a representative of the film, usually the director, producer, or actor. 

Activities of the 8-day Festival

Each year LALIFF offers a series of Presentations, Workshops, Panels, and Industry Seminars where attendees can interact with and learn from experts in the entertainment business, CEOs, filmmakers, talent and industry executives. In addition to these learning opportunities, LALIFF also organizes several luncheons and evening receptions with a variety of Latino themes, where participants can enjoy a relaxing time and socialize while networking. 

Special Academy Preservation Program Screening
Academy Film Archive, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences™

The Academy Film Archive of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences acquires and preserves materials that have contributed to the development of the art and science of the motion picture. In addition to prints of Academy Award-nominated and winning films, the archive holds the personal collections of past and current Academy members, as well as a diverse collection of avant-garde, documentary, and animated films. Ongoing film festival collections include the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival. The LALIFF collection is freely available for consultation on the Archive’s premises to all students, scholars, and filmmakers.

"BMI Offers Live Music During Los Angeles Latino INTERNATIONAL Film Festival Sept. 12-19 "

When: Saturday and Sunday afternoon & Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Join BMI on a musical journey through Latin-tinged hip-hop, rock, cumbia, electronica and reggae, enjoying premier live acts and witnessing Latin music’s next-big-thing.  The BMI stage will be located in the Egyptian Theatre Courtyard’s Festival Plaza. A stunning line-up will be announced soon.
