On one of those hot and humid afternoons in Austin, Texas, which almost always presage a coming storm, two strangers, both exiles in their own way, have an encounter in a backyard gone to seed from neglect.

Our two fallen angels, Arturo – a Cuban novelist turned immigrant gardener, and Catherine – a withdrawn widow with a painful past, struggle to find each other, and themselves, in this overgrown, weed-filled yard.  Over the course of several hours they exchange pleasantries and tell stories.
